New Books this Summer that I’m Excited to Read
I usually scour various Instagram accounts and Goodreads for new books. I love Goodreads to track what I’ve read and see other reader’s reviews. Instagram is great, when you find book-related accounts that match your preferences. Here’s a list of new books that I’m excited to read that are being released this summer. My previous post about new books this spring also has some great options! I included a few words describing why each book stood out to me and why I’m excited to read them. Happy reading! xo
New Books being Released this Summer
A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poisons
by Kate Khavari
The description of this novel reminded me of The Lost Apothecary. Set in the 1920’s in England, this historical mystery is set among the greenery. This book seems a little different than what I’d normally pick up, but I’m intrigued.

Girl, Forgotten
by Karin Slaughter
I thoroughly enjoyed Slaughter’s The Silent Wife, and while that is the only novel of hers that I’ve read, I can’t wait to read her new book! A small town, cold case and close friends calls for a thrilling story.

The Ruins
by Phoebe Wynne
I believe I came across this one on Goodreads. Set along the French Riviera (dream trip??), this coming of age story seems to be about the clash of family friends and what happens when there’s a little too much freedom given. I could be totally wrong, but from the description, it seems as though something terrible happened and it may be a redemption story.

The House Across the Lake
by Riley Sager
To be honest, I don’t even need to know what this book is about. I have loved all of Sager’s novels so I will be reading this one as soon as it comes out! Now reading the description, I’m getting The Woman in the Window vibes, which seems cliche but it only makes me want to read it more.

The It Girl
by Ruth Ware
I’ve read all of Ware’s novels and have loved half of them and liked the other half. That’s enough for me to want to read her newest novel coming out this summer. What happens when someone shows up on your doorstep and tells you that everything you thought you knew from one fateful night of your past could be wrong?

Things We Do in the Dark
by Jennifer Hillier
I haven’t read any of Hillier’s novels but I’ve been dying to read Little Secrets. Things We Do in the Dark sounds intriguing and I’ve been on a new book kick (aka I’m ignoring all the books I’ve wanted to read for years), so I can’t wait to give this one a read. Paris is found next to her dead husband’s body. She doesn’t want the media attention, especially, while innocent, since this crime mirrors a similar crime from years ago that she has ties to. When someone from her past threatens to expose her, Paris is forced to face her demons and come clean.

The Last to Vanish
by Megan Miranda
I really enjoyed The Last Guest House a few years ago, and ever since Megan Miranda has been an author that I want to read more of her work. Her newest novel, The Last to Vanish is set near the Appalachian Trail and follows the story of a string of disappearances. Abby, an innkeeper, starts investigating on her own when a discovery leads her to wonder how well she knows her small town neighbors.

Stay Awake
by Megan Goldin
Goldin’s The Night Swim was captivating. Seeing she has a new book coming out this summer, was enough for me to add it to my list. Liv wakes up in the back of a taxi and doesn’t know how she got there. When she tries to find her phone, she discovers a blood stained knife. Upon attempting to get into her home, she finds someone else living there. Then she sees the news. It’s two years later than she thought and she can’t remember anything. Someone was stabbed to death, and Liv can’t remember what she did last night.
