My Favorite Activewear Brands

I love versatility when it comes to clothing. I’d say 90% of my closet is full of what would be considered loungewear or activewear, but a lot of pieces I can get away with wearing to work (in my office jeans are acceptable), while traveling and exercising or hiking. So, I wanted to share some of my favorite activewear brands that are comfortable, versatile, and affordable.
I lean towards the “affordable” end when it comes to personal purchases such as clothing. I have a white golden retriever and love black leggings. While that sounds like a winning combination, I’d rather not set myself up to get upset over a pair of leggings (or any piece of clothing) getting ruined.
I would describe my style as versatile, definitely leaning towards comfy (loungewear anyone?). Can I wear it hiking? Working from home (better yet, on zoom?)? While sitting on an airplane or in airports for hours? On road trips? Exercising? Lounging around at home with a good book? Yes to all of the above – Amazing!
All in Motion
Target’s All in Motion brand is super versatile. The other option at Target is JoyLab and while I don’t own anything from that brand, I’d would discount it as an option. I have a cropped crew neck sweatshirt from All in Motion and it’s one of the softest things I own. Their light- and medium-weight sports bras average $20 which is a steal. The workout tees and tanks also average around $20 with long sleeved tees being a bit more. Their shorts are around $20 and leggings come in around $30. So, for under $100 you can find a whole outfit.
Old Navy
Growing up, we’d shop at Old Navy often. I don’t know what happened, but at one point we kind of just stopped. A year or so ago, I found myself looking through the site and was so curious why we stopped. They have everything! I’m sure there are issues with manufacturers since it’s so cheap, but sometimes it’s nice to find good basics that are more affordable. Activewear wise, I love their tanks with built-in bras and bike shorts. I didn’t think I could pull off bike shorts for a while but after trying some pairs, I don’t even care they are so comfortable.
Aerie
During high school, my family discovered American Eagle and later Aerie. The clothing at American Eagle seems to be geared toward the later teen / young adult crowd but their stuff is so cute and comfortable that I still buy it. On the other hand, Aerie has some of the best, most comfortable options when it comes to activewear and loungewear. Now that they added the brand Offline, it’s gotten even better. I lived in their Real Me leggings, and now that flared yoga pants are back in style, I live in those too. The leggings I have a few years old and attract dog hair, but that’s why we have half a dozen lint rollers around our house. Aerie has the cutest patterns and styles for individual pieces or matching sets.
Amazon
Another favorite site for activewear is Amazon. My two favorite brands are CRZ Yoga and Colorfulkoala. The bike shorts I bought from Colorfulkoala are some of the most comfortable pairs I own. I purchased a pair of running shorts from CRZ yoga and they were a favorite until my dog found them and ate threw them. It looks like they now have a high-waisted style so I’m glad I waited to buy some new ones!
