Hi, I’m Alyssa!

I’m the voice behind peaks | pines | waves. Here’s a little bit about me: I live in Denver, Colorado with my husband and our two dogs, Ollie and Moose. We love to get out to the mountains to hike, camp or ski whenever we can and enjoy traveling to new places.

We typically favor traveling around Colorado, visiting National Parks around the United States and road trips. Occasionally, we visit cities like Chicago or New York. And every once in a while we find ourselves abroad. Needless to say, you’ll find a little bit of everything here!

Every once in a while, the question “mountains or beach?” comes up. I struggle to answer it, and always have. Sometimes I crave adventuring in the mountains and sometimes I really need a relaxing trip at the beach. And as someone who loves hiking and camping, I thoroughly enjoy exploring forests.

I’m an engineer by day, and in my free time, I love to read and spend time with my family. I also enjoy searching for activities for us to do around Denver, and Colorado in general; and planning trips, both near and far. I started this blog to share what research I’ve done to plan trips for us, some we’ve been on and some are ideas for the future. I hope you find this blog useful and fun!
