The Best Places to Eat on Maui
While visiting Maui, the places to eat were high on our list of importance when it came to planning. One, because reservations were required everywhere and months out were filling up.
There are so many options and they’re all incredible! The list below includes almost everywhere we went and a few others that came highly recommended. If we didn’t go it’s because we couldn’t get a reservation! I’m jealous if you get to go! Or we should go back…

Paia Bay Coffee Bar
When we started east from the airport towards the Road to Hana, we stopped in Paia at the Paia Bay Coffee Bar. The patio had a ton of seating and plants and had the coolest vibe. The coffee was amazing, with a lot of fun options, and the breakfast food was to die for. They had a small stage so I’m sure it would also be a great atmosphere later in the day with cocktails and live music!
Mama’s Fish House
One of the more famous restaurants on Maui is Mama’s Fish House. We weren’t able to get a reservation here, which was upsetting. If you want to go here, plan ahead! The food focuses on seafood with traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian aspects. The restaurant is just east of Paia and overlooks the ocean, which is just another reason to make the stop!
Down the Hatch
If you’re looking for a delicious and low-key option in Lahaina check out Down the Hatch! This one doesn’t take reservations. Since we had a large group, we didn’t take a chance and made a reservation for the nights we were in town. Located on Front Street, it’s a lively spot with fun cocktails and amazing food. Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives featured this spot on an episode!
Fleetwood’s on Front Street
Front Street in Lahaina is similar to a city’s Main Street. It’s were you’ll find most of the area’s restaurants, souvenir shops, boutiques, art galleries, etc. Another very well known spot with a rooftop patio perfect for sunset is Fleetwood’s on Front Street. Mick Fleetwood, Fleetwood Mac’s drummer, owns the restaurant. The food was incredible, the cocktails were amazing and the views were out of this world. If you’re visiting the island, be sure to check out this spot.
Ululani’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice
There are many options for shaved ice in Hawaii. Ululani’s is supposed to have the best shaved ice on Maui. This was the only place I tried and it was so good I didn’t even want to give another spot a chance. There were so, so many flavor and topping options. You can get just about anything you want. There are a few locations around the island, so be sure to find one close to you!
Lahaina Grill
A few of our friends went to Hawaii on their honeymoons and recommended Lahaina Grill. Some claimed it was one of the best meals they’ve ever had! We didn’t make it to this spot but according to their website it’s one of the best spots in the U.S. If you’re looking for a fine dining / fancy spot while on your trip, don’t miss this one.
Star Noodle
Another great option in Lahaina is Star Noodle. If you’re in the mood for Asian food while on Hawaii this would be a great option! Another one we couldn’t get a reservation at but the food looks fresh and the options are endless.
Miso Phat Sushi
After the Road to Hana, we arrived at our Airbnb later in the day and were searching for something close by. We stumbled upon Miso Phat Sushi. The sushi was incredible! There were a lot of options for rolls, sushi pieces, and appetizers. We feasted. If you’re in the mood for sushi on Maui don’t skip Miso Phat!
Duke’s Beach House
Another spot that came highly recommended is Duke’s Beach House. This restaurant is located north of Lahaina between Kaanapali and Napili. This open air spot on the beach has surfer decor and tiki torches but it’s fun and not tacky! The menu options look fresh with a lot of options. They also have a fun drink menu!
The Gazebo
If you’re interested in the best pancakes you’ve ever had in your life, or a really amazing breakfast in general, don’t skip the Gazebo. They don’t take reservations so be prepared to wait a while. Or order takeout that’s ready almost immediately like we did. Either way, it’s worth the wait. Their speciality is Macadamia Nut Pancakes, but if you’re feeling indecisive (or adventurous) try the Combo Pancakes with Macadamia Nut, Pineapple, and Banana pancakes. They will change your life.
Gannon’s
While in Wailea, we didn’t want to eat at the resort every night so we ventured out. Luckily we came across Gannon’s. This spot is located in the Wailea Gold Club on the Emerald Golf Course just south of Wailea. The views overlook the coast from up on the course so the sunset was unbelievable. They have a little bit smaller menu than some other places but there were plenty of options to satisfy everyone! Our meals were delicious.
DUO Steak and Seafood
If you’ve seen HBO’s show The White Lotus, you have to stop by the Four Seasons in Wailea. It’s where the show was filmed! If you haven’t seen it – go watch it. It’s one of the best shows out there. Either way, the resort is gorgeous. You can walk here along the Wailea Beach Path from other resorts or park for free for dinner. Their onsite restaurant DUO is out of this world. This meal is among one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. We went here on the last night of our trip and it was a perfect way to end.
